The Cisco EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU Enhanced HWIC Interface Card integrates both dual mode SFP and RJ-45 ports, accelerating the convergence of applications such as Ethernet WAN access, IVR, and high-speed connectivity to LAN switches.

The Cisco Gigabit Ethernet Dual-Identity Enhanced High-Speed WAN Interface Card (EHWIC) provides both Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) and copper (RJ-45) Gigabit Ethernet connectivity to Cisco Integrated Services Routers (ISRs). This single-port card delivers Gigabit Ethernet optical and copper connectivity in a compact form factor for Cisco ISR G2 routers.

The EHWIC enables branch offices to implement cost-effective high-speed uplinks in various environments. Its enhanced performance supports new applications and services while increasing capacity for existing IVR and bridging capabilities, allowing connection to Ethernet WAN (EWAN) Layer 2 and 3 services.

For maximum flexibility, the EHWIC features one SFP slot supporting Cisco SFPs and a copper RJ-45 port. Either the SFP port (100/1000 Mbps) or RJ-45 port (10/100/1000 Mbps) can be active at one time. The SFP port supports digital optical monitoring (DOM) per SFF-8472 MSA, enabling real-time monitoring of optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver voltage.

The Cisco Gigabit Ethernet WAN EHWIC provides copper and optical Gigabit Ethernet ports and connectivity of T1/E1 and T3/E3 over copper for Cisco ISR routers. This enhanced high-speed interface card delivers connectivity through a dual-purpose uplink (DPU).
